Black Ops 4: How to dominate Gridlock Multiplayer map – lines of sight, spawns, and hot zones

Albert Petrosyan

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Multiplayer is full of well-designed maps that are based off some very interesting locations, and one of those is Gridlock.

Gridlock is one of the 11 new maps that were introduced in the day-one version of Black Ops 4, with the other four being remastered versions from previous Black Ops titles.

According to its in-game description, Gridlock is “a Japanese metropolis whose city center has been jammed up by a bank heist gone wrong.”

There is a lot of attention given to this map because it is one of the very few that are used by the CoD World League all three of the competitive modes in Black Ops 4 – Hardpoint, Search and Destroy, and Control.

To help casual and competitive players get better at playing on Gridlock, YouTuber and CoD expert TheXclusiveAce has released a video breaking down the ins and outs of the map, including its spawns, important lines of sight, and hot zones.

According to the YouTuber, there are really about six points on the map that can be considered hot zones, or areas where action can almost always be found as that’s where players generally like to position themselves.

These locations can be seen on the map below and have been marked red for your convenience.

The first powerful line of sight that the YouTuber highlights is in the middle of the map and facing the top level of the balcony where players like to stand and shoot down at the map.

There are several ways to counter that power position, and one that enemies might not expect is the line of sight opened up when standing on top of the small white car and using the flipped truck as a head-glitch.

This spot offers a clean aim to the balcony, and players can simply crouch to use the flipped truck as protection from counter-fire.

For dealing with the other side of the map, especially the top of the broken bridge where players like to camp, one strong spot is the top corner of the blue armored vehicle located across.

When positioned right on the corner, players can get a clean line of sight to that top bridge area, and can crouch to, once again, use the giant flipped truck for cover.

Last but not least, the spawns, which are important for players to familiarize themselves with in objective based game modes and especially in competitive play.

The green points shown in the map below are the primary spawns, and the red dots are for the secondary spawns, which only open up whenever the primary ones are being pressured too much.
