Albert Petrosyan

The fifth running of the CMG ProDown tournament is set to take place over January 12-13 as top North American Call of Duty teams compete for the $2,500 prize.

The field feature  the biggest and brightest names in CoD esports, such as OpTic Gaming, 100 Thieves, FaZe Clan, and more, as well as some of the most promising up-and-coming prospects that are yet to go pro.

Last second announcements have revealed that 3X winners OpTic have both pulled out of the tournament and will not be competing this week, which also seems the case for defending champions eUnited. Both teams have already secured their place in the Pro League and may be watching the NFL playoffs instead.

SCHEDULE

This week’s ProDown will kick off at 2 PM PT / 5 PM ET / 10 PM GMT on Saturday, January 12. The majority of matches will be played that day with the exception of the final few rounds, which will take place on Sunday, January 13 at the same time.

BRACKET AND FORMAT

The ProDown tournaments feature a double elimination bracket stacked with 16 total teams. The matches in both the Winner’s and Loser’s Brackets will be played best-of-five.

The rule-set is the same as the official one used by the CWL, and each round of both brackets has specific maps assigned to each game so that all teams face the same exact map rotation each round.

The Winners and Losers brackets can be seen below. FaZe and E6 will square off in the Winners Finals, while EnVy. REC, UYU and the Knights are all still fighting for their lives down in Losers.

It was an unforgettable event for 100T, who dropped a 5 set heartbreaker to UYU before being swept aside by EnVy. Luminosity also had a quick night, dropping out to Tainted Minds and Team Spacely in back to back matches.

Splyce, playing with NAMELESS, almost went on a dream run to get NAMELESS off the desk and back into a team, but they lost a tight one to FaZe in the Quarters and EG in Losers.

In terms of rosters, all of the pro teams will be using their regular teams except for Splyce, which will have analyst NAMELESS filling in for Accuracy.

‘Ready For Hire’ is the team name for SpaceLy, MajorManiak, Havok, Nagafen, and Maux. ‘Project 18’ is the team name for TeddyRecks, Ramby, Super, Zaptius, and MikeApox.

PRIZE BREAKDOWN

As usual, this week’s ProDown features a $2,500 prize pool that will be divided accordingly between the top two teams. The first place team will receive $2,000 and the second place team will receive $500.

STREAMS

Sorry, teams are understandably being protective of their strats due to the CWL Pro League Play-in taking place during the week. No streams are expected to be available, but if any pros change their minds, we will put them here.
