Destiny 2 has confirmed that the Into the Light content update is releasing soon, helping to prepare new and old players alike for The Final Shape expansion.

The Final Shape has been one of the most highly anticipated expansions for Destiny 2. The conclusion of the Light and Dark saga, the expansion will mark the end of the looter shooter as we know it.

Of course, Bungie has plans for what’s to come after The Final Shape, but what that may look like is anyone’s guess.

Unfortunately, fans are having to wait a bit longer to see this conclusion than originally expected. Back in November 2023, Bungie announced that the release of The Final Shape has been delayed until June 4 of this year.

To mitigate the effects of this decision, they also announced a new content update that would help prepare players for the conclusive expansion. When announcing the update in November 2023, Joe Blackburn, Destiny 2’s former Game Director, confirmed its main goals.

“This is really built not only for the folks that have played Destiny for 5000 hours, but also for your friends, your family, people who are just getting into Destiny and want to get prepared for the Final Shape.

“We’re really excited about the content and rewards coming in this, so please stay tuned.”

Though technically a minor update when compared with a full expansion release, there is a good amount of content for players to explore. These include the addition of three new PvP maps, something the community has been requesting for some time.

Bungie are also releasing a brand new PvE activity, alongside new weapons and a dozen older guns and swords from different phases in the game’s history.

The developer is continuing to confirm details regarding the update in the run-up to release. In particular, a final live stream on April 2 at 10 a.m. PT is set to be the last major communication before the update is rolled out.

Destiny 2: Into the Light new PvE Activity – Onslaught

Onslaught is a horde-style PvE mode that takes players back to the Last City. It’s an interesting take on the theme with players tasked with working together to build defenses, collect resources and ultimately overcome the forces of The Witness.
