Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji has had his FIFA 20 Ultimate Team starting lineup revealed – and it contains a few interesting position swaps for players.

Ever since joining Borussia Dortmund from FC Basel back in 2018, Manuel Akaji has become a player that FIFA Ultimate Team fans are familiar with. The Swiss central defender offers a pacey option in the heart of any defence, as well as being able to play a pass pretty calmly anywhere on the pitch.

As real-life football has taken a back seat due to the ongoing global health pandemic, professional players across the globe have been playing more and more FIFA 20 – running into fans who can’t quite believe it.

Akanji has been a steady choice for FUT players for a few years.

The 24-year-old’s team was posted to the FIFA subreddit by Reddit user _jxggs_ – with that all-important 99-rated custom pro player card showing that its the real deal.

Aside from a handful of legends like Carlos Alberto Torres, Ruud Gullit, Ronaldo, Johan Cruyff, and  Zinedine Zidane, there is also a spot for current stars Kylian Mbappe and Akanji’s teammate Jadon Sancho. However, Sancho, Zidane, and Ronaldo are all out of position, though, it must work in-game for the defender.

Manuel Akanji’s FIFA 20 Ultimate Team

  • GK: Alisson – 90
  • LB: Andy Robertson – 94
  • RB: Carlos Alberto Torres – 90
  • CB: Manuel Akanji – 99
  • CB: Virgil Van Dijk – 92
  • CM: Ruud Gullit- 90
  • CM: Ronaldo – 94
  • CM: Jadon Sancho – 87
  • CAM: Johan Cruyff – 91
  • ST: Kylian Mbappe – 89
  • ST: Zinedine Zidane – 94

Some FIFA fans might look past the positional swaps in Akanji’s lineup and see an incredible defensive backline, but there is no doubt that he could definitely upgrade at a few positions.

For example, there are enough special Mbappe cards in-game that the base card could be upgraded – same as Van Dijk. But, at the end of the day, it’s Akanji’s team, so he makes the final call.
