League of Legends’ newest champion Smolder has debuted with a shockingly low win rate, making him one of the worst characters in the game.

The newest champion in League of Legends has just been released. The 167th character titled Smolder is an anthropomorphic young dragon who shoots fire and calls for his mom to help out. Smolder is an infinitely scaling ADC who is able to slowly become stronger over time, gaining strength thanks to his passive Dragon Practice.

Generally speaking, newly released champions in League of Legends tend to be far too powerful or far too weak, causing them to be followed up on by the developers shortly after their release. Because of this Riot often sends the champion out onto the live servers in an attempt to gain further information from a larger player base.

That’s exactly what is happening with new release Smolder, who has dropped to abysmal win rates across the board, swiftly becoming one of the weakest champions in the game.

LoL’s newest champ drops with awful win rate

According to League of Legends stat websites, u.gg and OP.GG, Smolder currently sits at a 40.3% and 41.7% win rate respectively. This means you’re actively putting yourself and your team at a statistical disadvantage when you select the character in champion select.

Of course, it’s generally expected that players will need to take some time to learn the new character, inherently putting them at a lower win rate than normal. This has been true for plenty of previous champions, who received minor buffs only to come out as overpowered once the player base figured them out.

It’s uncertain if Riot has plans to buff Smolder seeing his awful win rate, or if the devs want to give the players a bit more, but with several changes coming in Patch 14.3, the little dragon may sprout his wings and take off sooner than we think.
