League of Legends pro Gumayusi has highlighted the major hitbox issues that arrived in the game after Season 14’s major map update.

Season 14 of League of Legends has given us some of the biggest changes we’ve ever seen. The MOBA was significantly shifted, with new items and the removal of the Mythic item system, new jungle camps, and a new map layout.

All these changes have required the player base to go back to the drawing board, essentially relearning the game, what’s strong, and the best way to play. This alongside the new ranked season has really shaken up the game as we know it.

Part of Season 14’s changes saw the map’s layout completely reworked. Certain areas have now been blocked up, with new pathways being opened up towards the lanes. However, with all these new changes have come some major hitbox issues, as highlighted by professional player T1 Gumayusi.

Gumayusi, who plays bot lane for Korean team T1 showcased the issues that came with the map update.

When standing in the river, Gumayui highlighted that many champion’s skill shots are missing even when they seem directly on the target. Both Jhin’s W and R abilities had strange interactions where sometimes the ability would land when aimed at the target, and sometimes would whiff when right on them.

Part of this has to do with the elevation of certain regions on the map, with the change in height causing issues with abilities hitting or missing. What makes this even worse is that the game has little to no indication of this variance in height, making it deceptively difficult to land skill shots while in certain parts of the map.

With season 14 only just started, the devs may look into these issues, but we won’t know until new patches are released.
