Niantic reveals game-changing updates for Monster Hunter Now Hunt-a-thons

Monster Hunter Now Hunt-a-thons were introduced during last year’s winter update, and while their addition has been far from smooth, Niantic has now outlined how it aims to improve them.

Hunt-a-thons are raid-style content that enables Monster Hunter Now players to take down five wyverns in quick succession. The fights are known to be much harder than regular hunts, which is largely down to the increased monster health.

Not only do Hunt-a-thons feature exclusive monsters like Zinogre, but they also offer players a significant challenge. However, the game’s community has been keen to highlight the problems surrounding Hunt-a-thons, with many urging the devs to adjust the multiplayer range and unskippable cutscene.

Well, now Niantic has revealed several changes that will be coming to Hunt-a-thons in the near future.

Monster Hunter Now Hunt-a-thons will soon be getting some changes.

From January to Spring 2024, Niantic aims to address the following aspects of Hunt-a-thons:

  • Mitigating situations where the timing of hunts may be off during asset downloads.
  • Allowing the skipping or omission of the introduction scene for the fifth monster.
  • Improving the display of the start time during the Preliminary state.
  • Making it clear without going to the Hunt-a-thon Point how much cooldown time is left.
  • Displaying information such as the number of hunters currently participating in the Hunt-a-thon at that point.
  • Allowing hunters to declare their intention to participate and display the number of hunters intending to join at that point.
  • Implementing measures to make Hunt-a-thons even easier to play for those in areas where fewer people naturally gather.
  • We are currently discussing other aspects such as available hours, rewards, and cooldown times including when using a Hunt-a-thon ticket.

It’s hoped that these changes will help make Hunt-a-thons much more enjoyable, especially for those who often struggle to find other nearby players. Niantic has given out an exact date for these changes, but hopefully, we’ll hear more in the weeks and months ahead.
