Shadow Mewtwo in Pokemon Go.

One Pokemon Go trainer left the community up in arms after they shared how they cheered up some “sad” Mewtwo they had in their collection.

Pokemon Go has introduced a ton of monsters to the game over the years—some of which even have multiple forms.

Along with plenty of Costumed Pokemon, many monsters have Shadow variants that are carried by members of Team Rocket. Some of the Shadow variants of these Pokemon are even stronger than their Purified counterparts, thanks to a decent boost in their Attack stat.

As such, the community was appalled after one trainer shared how they decided to cheer up their gaggle of Mewtwo to stop them from feeling “sad.”

Pokemon Go trainer riles up fans by purifying Shadow Mewtwo

The post came from the Pokemon Go subreddit, where a user named HalfMeHalfLife made a thread titled, “I didn’t want them to be sad.”

The OP shared a screenshot that showed six Mewtwo all with ‘Purified’ icons next to their name. Along with being a pain to catch, many fans consider Shadow Mewtwo superior to its standard counterpart.

Naturally, the fact that this trainer chose to forgo the 20% stat boost and use valuable resources to purify their Mewtwo collection left some members of the community up in arms.

“That hurts a bit to look at…,” said one player, while another commented, “Delete this. Not the post. Your PoGo account.”

Others defended the choice, as one fan commented, “Before anyone complains: It’s their choice what to do with the Pokemon they have caught.”

Some fans simply appreciated what they deemed to be a “meme” post and congratulated the OP. “This is the greatest post I’ve ever seen in here. Thank you OP for just wanting to watch the world burn of this sub. Enjoy your Happy Mewtwos my friend.”

At the end of the day, this trainer still has an impressive number of Mewtwo. Purified or not, the OG Legendary is still a rare a valuable Pokemon to have in the bank.
