After some confusion, The Sims 4 developers have clarified whether or not the game will be coming to the Nintendo Switch.

A contingent of Switch owners have long hoped for a potential port of The Sims 4. And it recently seemed as if their wishes may finally come true.

On January 29, Twitter user ‘The Henford Hen’ noticed that EA’s official website mentioned the Switch alongside other platforms on which Sims 4 is available. The news spread like wildfire, leading many to believe that a port for Nintendo’s hybrid console was finally in the works.

Such excitement didn’t last for very long, however, as a Sims social media account has tempered expectations.

Don’t hold your breath for The Sims 4 on Nintendo Switch

Just hours after news about the EA website began making the rounds, The Sims Direct Communications account responded to the aforementioned post from The Henford Hen.

According to the official Sims account, the EA page update was nothing more than an “error in the search data.” EA and Co. currently have “no plans” to release The Sims 4 on the Nintendo platform.

As of now, The Sims 4 is only available to play on PC, Mac, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms. The above proves that a Nintendo Switch version of Sims 4 isn’t on the docket.

A Sims release on Nintendo hardware hardly seems farfetched given the precedent set in the past. Sims 3 landed on Nintendo DS, 3DS, and Wii, after all. However, reason suggests the Switch’s inner workings wouldn’t allow developers to pull off the same feat with the newest iteration.

Whether or not that will remain the case once the Switch 2 and Sims 5/Project Rene hit the market is currently anyone’s guess.
