Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 fans are already smashing through the new game, and while the reception is positive overall, some gamers have taken issue with the new title seemingly nerfed Peter Parker’s Spider-Man throughout the campaign.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is finally here. The new game is already beloved by fans of the first, with players smashing through the storyline in meer days. While the game allows players to take control of both Peter Parker and Miles Morales, some have found Parker’s smaller role in the new game frustrating.

In a new Reddit thread titled “Is it just me or they nerfed Peter a little too much in Spider-man 2”, players have been sharing their thoughts on his smaller and less impactful role in the game.

These grips largely come from the moment in which Peter is defeated by Kraven after he is stabbed with a knife.

One Reddit user commented, “My one gripe with the game is how he got bodied by Kraven without even fighting and couldn’t even notice the big ass knife.”

Others added “Absolutely, he should’ve been able to make easy work of Doc Ock after whooping Norman’s ass in the first one” and “Don’t even get me started on Peter being unconscious for half the fight with Venom in the final.”

While of course, the ending of the game and the new direction does make Peter Parker’s smaller role more understandable, fans are still frustrated to see the number 1 web-slinger take such a back seat in Spider-Man 2.

“I understand that Peter would have needed the help of Miles to finish Venom off, but seeing Peter being near death/unconscious one more time (damn, he really missed the whole Harry/Venom killing spree because he was under some rubble), especially during his most important fight, was just frustrating.

Just get up, man, it’s your story, it’s your friend who is gonna destroy the world if you do not step up.”

Despite this critique, fans are still having a ball with the new Spider-Man 2 game and as a result, the Insomniac title is well and truly in the race for GOTY contention.
