At the end of Mile Morales’ post-credits scene of Spider-Man 2, the hero is introduced to Rio’s new love interest, who the subtitles identify as Albert Moon. After Albert first appears, he introduces his daughter, a young woman named Cindy.

So why is this Cindy character such a big reveal? Cindy Moon is the secret identity of a superhero named Silk. Created by writer Dan Slott and artist Humberto Ramos in 2014, Silk has appeared in numerous major comic book events since then, but this is her first appearance in Insomniac’s gaming universe.

Cindy Moon makes her first full appearance in 2014’s Amazing Spider-Man #4. Cindy Moon is a Korean-American student bitten by the same radioactive spider as Peter Parker. After being bitten, she’s hidden away in a bunker for years to protect her from Morlun, a multiversal vampire who fed on the blood of Spider-powered people.

Upon learning of her existence, Peter frees her and assures her that Morlun is dead. She takes on the identity of Silk and begins operating as a heroine of her own in New York. Silk was an integral part of crossovers like the original Spider-Verse comics, while her solo stories have pitted her against villains like Dragonclaw and Black Cat.

When she first meets Peter in the comics, he notes that while she is not as strong as him, she is faster. She also has the power to shoot webs out of her hands and a stronger variation of Peter’s Spidey Sense, known as Silk Sense. Other than these small differences, she possesses the exact same powers as Peter Parker’s Spider-Man.
