Jose Mourinho has offered a positive view on Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover of Manchester United after his 25% buyout of the club was ratified by the Premier League and the FA.

Ratcliffe, who is a lifelong fan of the club, will bring long term aide Sir Dave Brailsford into the club with him and will look to build on his experience of owning French side OGC Nice.

United have already been linked with a move for Newcastle United sporting director Dan Ashworth and there is excitement among the fanbase that the deal will be transformative both on and off the pitch.

Mourinho has been linked with a return to the club as manager after his exit from Roma earlier this year. Erik Ten Hag enjoyed a good season in charge at Old Trafford but his future will depend on how they finish the season.

‘The Special One’ was asked about what Ratcliffe would bring to the club and he revealed he has a “good relationship” with Ratcliffe and he has a “very good feeling” about his Manchester United takeover.

“I think now with INEOS and Sir [Jim] Ratcliffe, I know him well,” Mourinho told Vibe With Five.

“I know him very well, we have a good relation from years ago and I have a very good feeling. He is also a sports man and he loves it which I think is a very important thing.

“He comes with the experience of other experiences with smaller clubs and cycling so I have a good feeling that things can go in the right direction and honestly I hope so.”
