After her insults towards Jennifer Lopez’s career resurfaced, Ayo Edebiri used her SNL performance to indirectly to apologize to her.

It’s not uncommon for comedians to say some wildly savage things when it comes to all kinds of celebrities.

However, things can become quick awkward if those comments were broadcast before the comedian came face to face with said celebrity and that’s exactly what happened with Ayo Edebiri and Jennifer Lopez.

Ahead of her Saturday Night Live hosting debut, comments Edebiri made slamming Lopez’s “scam” career were made public, but the actress used her televised platform to indirectly apologize for the singer.

Edebiri uses SNL gig to apologize for harsh Lopez comments

During her appearance on the Scam Goddess podcast, Edebiri made disparaging remarks about Lopez’s career stating, “Today I was actually thinking about one of my favorite scams of all time because J.Lo is performing at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. Her whole career is one long scam.”

Edebiri went on to add, “I think she thinks that she’s still good, even though she’s not singing for most of these songs. A lot of the write-ups of the songs will be like, ‘J.Lo didn’t have time to make it to the studio.’ Like, ‘J.Lo was busy.’ Doing what? Not singing, obviously.”

The resurfacing of these comments came at the worst time as Edebiri was set to host SNL with J.Lo acting as the show’s musical guest.

But, it seems like Edebiri is ready to put the one-sided feud to rest as she used her appearance on SNL to indirectly apologize to Lopez.

During “Why’d You Say It,” a game show sketch where contestants have to reckon with their history as social media trolls, Edebiri took the time to retract her past comments.

“Okay. We get it,” Edebiri said, “It’s wrong to leave mean comments, or post comments just for clout, or run your mouth on a podcast, and you don’t consider the impact because you’re 24 and stupid. But I think I speak for everyone when I say from now on, we’re going to be a lot more thoughtful about what we post online.”

While Lopez didn’t appear in any sketches in the episode, Edebiri and Lopez did record a promo ahead of their episode in which Lopez said she loved The Bear, which Edebiri co-stars in, and the actress responded, “I love your everything.”
