With the long list of upcoming K-dramas from Netflix in 2023, fans are eager for a change of pace with a new Korean movie. Ballerina has been eagerly awaited since its announcement during the Korea Tudum event. The star-studded cast includes two actors from Netflix’s K-drama adaptation of Money Heist.

Ballerina will be Lee Chung-hyun’s second movie from Netflix after The Call. It’s also actor Jeon’s second time working with Lee. She starred as one of the female leads in the 2020 movie. The actor has proved herself skilled in action sequences and suspense. She played the role of Tokyo in Money Heist: Korea – Joint Economic Area.

For Ballerina, Jeon tests her skills starring as a former bodyguard. Ok-ju’s (Jeon) only friend asks her to seek vengeance against someone. The official teaser for Ballerina promises bloodshed as Ok-ju will even face death to get what she wants.

Ballerina: What is the Netflix Korean movie about?

Ok-ju’s friend, a ballerina, asks her for a difficult favor. She goes on the hunt to track down Pro Choi (Kim Ji-hoon) in Netflix’s Ballerina.

The official synopsis for Ballerina described Ok-ju as a former bodyguard. She excels in martial arts, firearms, weapons training, and motorcycle riding. Her years of experience led her ballerina friend Min-hee (Park Yoo-rim) to ask for a favor. She wants Ok-ju to seek revenge against Pro Choi.

Netflix released the first official teaser for Ballerina on September 6, 2023. The scene opens with an emotional idea of how much Min-hee means to Ok-ju. With a steel gaze, she says she is going hunting. Intermixed with scenes of thrill and predatory gazes, are scenes of the effortless poise of a ballet recital.

Ballerina’s trailer shows a dynamic shift as Ok-ju is covered in blood and gives off a warning. A high-stakes pursuit follows as audiences see Ok-ju kill countless thugs and brutally take on anyone who comes in her way. The trailer reveals just how ruthless she can be for her dear friend.

The trailer’s tagline “I’ll hunt you all the way down to hell” is only a taste of what can be expected from the full trailer and official release on October 6, 2023.
