Frozen 3: Everything we know

The cast of Frozen

It’s time to let it go and build a snowman because Frozen 3 is officially in development — here’s what we know, from any release date information to cast, plot, and more.

Frozen is a crown jewel at Disney, making over a billion dollars with each animated movie, and the snow train isn’t stopping, as now a third film is on the way (and Frozen 4, too).

Disney CEO Bob Iger announced that a third Frozen movie was in development, amongst several other new movies at the House of Mouse.

But does Frozen 3 have a release date? Or a plot? Here’s everything we know so far.

Is there a Frozen 3 release date?

Disney confirmed Frozen 3 will release on 25 November 2026.

Since Frozen came out in November 2013 and Frozen 2 premiered in November 2019, it made sense for the third to follow the pattern.

What could the Frozen 3 plot be?

So far, nothing official is known about the plot of Frozen 3. We can imagine it will continue the story of Anna and Elsa, and how Elsa’s ice powers affect their relationship and the Kingdom of Arandelle.

With Anna becoming queen at the end of Frozen 2, the upcoming film may cover the responsibilities and troubles she has in this role, as well as her marriage to Kristoff.

As for Elsa, who ended the last film by becoming the protector of the enchanted forest and the Northuldran people, we’ll have to see if these new roles cause the sisters to butt heads.

Furthermore, since Frozen 1 was set during summer — and the eternal winter that Elsa accidentally created — and Frozen 2 was set during autumn, we’ll have to see if the third film will be set in another season, such as spring.

However, it does appear that Frozen 3 will be directly connected to a fourth film with Disney CEO Bob Iger revealing that the team working on Frozen 3 is also working on a fourth movie.

Frozen 3 cast

No full cast has been confirmed for Frozen 3. However, Kristen Bell and Idina Menzel will star again as Anna and Elsa.

  • Kristen Bell as Anna
  • Idina Menzel as Elsa
  • Josh Gad as Olaf
  • Jonathan Groff as Kristoff
Anna in Frozen 2.

We may also expect the return of Martha Plimpton, Sterling K. Brown, Alfred Molina, Jason Ritter, and Rachel Matthews to reappear, as all were cast as characters that survived the sequel film.

In an interview with Billboard, Menzel confirmed she’ll be in it, stating, “All I know is, yeah we are gonna make one, and that’s it. So, I’m like cool I will be able to pay my bills.”

Who is directing Frozen 3?

Chris Buck is directing Frozen 3.

The first two Frozen films were co-directed by Buck and Jennifer Lee, but since Lee is now the chief creative offer of Walt Disney Animation Studios, she is just producing.

Songwriting couple Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez were behind the songs and music of the first two films, so this pair will likely work on the third film.

Is there a Frozen 3 trailer?

There is currently no trailer or promotional footage for Frozen 3.

However, the good news is that Frozen 1 and 2 are currently available on Disney Plus.
