“Hilarious” underrated Jennifer Aniston sequel climbs Netflix chart
Warner Bros.An underrated comedy sequel from the 2010s starring Jennifer Aniston has climbed the Netflix chart – and fans have hailed it as “hilarious.”
Rotten Tomatoes scores aren’t always the best indicator of what comedies are worth seeking out. Some are rightly acclaimed, but others are seemingly “rotten”, like The Waterboy, Wet Hot American Summer, and Step Brothers.
In 2011, Jason Sudeikis teamed up with Jason Bateman and Charlie Day for Horrible Bosses, a laugh-out-loud comedy that earned plaudits from critics and grossed north of $200 million worldwide.
Naturally, Warner Bros was happy enough to green-light a sequel – but despite its original reception, it’s being enjoyed by Netflix viewers across the country.

The sequel picks up three years later, with Nick (Bateman), Kurt (Sudeikis), and Dale (Day) preparing to launch their new business: the Shower Buddy. When they’re approached by father-and-son investors (Christoph Waltz and Chris Pine), their dreams of wealth seem set to come true – but there’s a nasty, underhanded twist, and via an extraordinary set of circumstances, kidnapping seems like a sensible way out of their debt.
Aniston reprises her role as Dr. Julia Harris, the sex-crazed dentist from the first film who tried to ruin Dale’s marriage (and took some rather… problematic photos of them together). Jamie Foxx also returns as “Motherf**ker Jones.”
It’s currently rated at 35% on Rotten Tomatoes – but Netflix viewers are enjoying it. “Horrible Bosses 2 is slept on so hard,” one tweeted. “Horrible Bosses 2 is hilarious,” a second wrote. “Why am I just finally watching Horrible Bosses 2?” a third posted. “Horrible Bosses and Horrible Bosses 2 are a 10/10 comedy to me. Very high rewatch value. Doesn’t lose anything,” a fourth wrote.
