Animal Crossing: New Horizons cherry blossom guide – recipes & crafting

Meg Bethany Koepp

April is here, which means it’s cherry blossom season in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. This comes with a new array of crafting recipes for limited-time furniture, clothing, and more. Here’s everything you need to know on how to get them.

Cherry blossom season is probably the prettiest time of year in the Animal Crossing series, as certain trees turn their leaves into sakura flowers – specifically hardwood ones in New Horizons. In Japan, sakura season is usually in the start of April for major cities such as Tokyo, and the game is no different.

Running from April 1 through 10, the beautiful flowers transform islands into a pink paradise. That’s not all, though, as players can use their petals to craft some gorgeous, limited-time items.

How to craft cherry blossom items in New Horizons

Firstly, you’ll need to learn recipes before you can even start crafting the cute items the event has to offer. They can only be found by shooting balloons down with a slingshot, and even then the spawn rate for presents including a recipe seems to be uncommon, so it might take some time.

While on the lookout for the balloons, you’ll no doubt notice rogue flower petals floating around your island. You might be tempted to ignore them, but you’ll actually need to catch them with your net as though they were a flying bug in order to start crafting the sakura-themed items.

Be careful, though – if you miss your shot, the petal will disappear and you’ll have to start your search for another one all over again.

Recipes are found by shooting down balloons with your slingshot.

Once you’ve got enough petals to make a recipe after learning it, head to your crafting table to make the item. There are 14 different items to collect, so make sure you’re well-stocked on slingshots so you have a backup if yours breaks.
