A still from Bungo Stray Dogs

Fans remain hopeful that Bungo Stray Dogs Season 6 will happen, since we got a brief tease at the end of the fifth season. Here are all the details we have so far.

Bungo Stray Dogs is lowkey one of the best anime of the last decade. Not quite reaching the level of Demon Slayer or Jujutsu Kaisen, the anime show has remained steady, leading to five seasons, with a sixth something many are clamoring for.

A dark, strange universe, Bungo Stray Dogs follows a special agency of detectives with supernatural powers who tackle cases regular people simply can’t. This leads to some creepy situations, as well as some harrowing circumstances that make it difficult to look away.

Dazai and several other characters encountered brutal circumstances at the end of Season 5, leaving us on tenterhooks for more. But are we getting Bungo Stray Dogs Season 6?

Will there be a Bungo Stray Dogs Season 6?

Bungo Stray Dogs Season 6 hasn’t been confirmed by Studio Bones yet.

Fans haven’t had to wait this long for confirmation before. Each season prior was confired shortly after the preceding finale.

The problem now, though, is that the show has officially caught up to Bungo Stray Dogs manga, leaving no more source material. Unlike in American productions, anime won’t jump ahead of the manga, instead waiting for chapters to be published first.

The good news is more chapters are being made, so it’s just a matter of time.

Bungo Stray Dogs Season 6 will kick off the next saga

When it happens, Bungo Stray Dogs Season 6 will be the start of a new saga. The show sill move into the Resurrection Arc, which kicked off in Chapter 114, as part of the followup to the Decay of the Angel Saga.

It should be noted these titles are from the fandom, the creative team aren’t so particular. But the point is, Season 5 was the end of an era for Bungo Stray Dogs, and Season 6 will mark the beginning of another.

What that looks like is hard to say – at time of writing, we’re less than six chapters in – but morre is coming it’s just a matter of time. Unfortunately, Bungo is printed on a monthly schedule, so it could be quite a lot of time.

Bungo Stray Dogs Season 6 has some big questions to answer

Season 6 of Bungo Stray Dogs has to answer is who Fyodor really is and what actually happened to him first and foremost. Then, it needs to clarify about the war Fukuchi warns about before dying and the mysterious enemy Atsushi and Akutagawa are fighting in the post-credit scene.

Then there’s the fallout of Dazai’s death and the infestation of vampires. It’s a mess, really. This is not a happy story, but that’s why people love it.

There are some spin-offs to check out while we wait. Bungo Stray Dogs Wan! has enough material for multiple seasons while the Stormbringer light novel and Beast spin-off has the potential to become some of the best but probably underrated anime movies.

The studio can also make anime original films like it did with Dead Apple. Bones still has enough to work with even if Bungo Stray Dogs Season 6 won’t be possible in the near future.

Bungo Stray Dogs is streaming on both Crunchyroll and Netflix. If you need something new, you can check out the Spring 2024 anime lineup and some short anime that deserves more recognition.
