Demon Slayer: To The Hashira Training movie has finally hit international theatres – but some fans aren’t happy.

Demon Slayer: To The Hashira Training movie is the latest addition to the franchise. As the highly-anticipated anime season is still a few months away from its grand debut, the series premieres this movie in over 140 countries.

As the title suggests, the movie adapts scenes from the fan-favorite Hashira Training arc. It is the last arc of the manga before the Final Battle arc begins. As the Hashira and all the demon slayers train relentlessly to defeat Muzan and the Upper Moons, the demon progenitor has set his sights on Nezuko and her ability to conquer the sun.

The arc includes all the Hashira, including Tengen Uzui, who has retired from the Demon Slayer Corps. Although the worldwide premiere of the latest Demon Slayer movie has created quite a buzz, many fans expressed dissatisfaction with it.

Why are Demon Slayer fans unhappy with the latest movie?

For those who don’t know, despite having an almost two-hour screen time, the latest Demon Slayer movie only adapts Chapters 128, 129, the first half of 130, and the second half of 131 from the Hashira Training arc of the manga.

The movie first shows the flashbacks of all the seasons and the Infinity Train arc movie before showing the entire one-hour special finale of the Swordsmith Village arc. After the recap, the rest of the screen time is dedicated to the first episode of the upcoming season.

It features a few scenes that aren’t in the manga and adapts a few chapters. Instead of a post-credits scene, the movie reveals the opening theme of the anime season. Titled “Mugen,” MY FIRST STORY and HYDE have collaborated on this incredible song.

Many fans had believed it would solely cover the Hashira Training arc. The two-hour screen time is enough to adapt all nine chapters from the arc.

“Lmfaooo save your money if you’re planning on watching the new demon slayer movie in theaters, it’s 1 hour of recap and 40 ish min of new content,” shared one fan on Twitter/X.

Another fan posted: “The new Demon Slayer movie is just an expensive recap, if you don’t mind watching the last episode of season 3 again then sure go for it.”

One fan shared a note with a Joker GIF: “Shame on me for expecting the Demon Slayer movie to not be another 45-minute recap of the previous season and 30 minutes of absolutely nothing teasing the next arc.”

Despite the various complaints, many fans support the franchise. The information about the recap was also shared beforehand. One user shared: “I don’t know where some people got their info from, but they clearly stated the Demon Slayer “movie” was going to recap an episode before they introduced the new arc. Y’all are complaining too much for people who refuse to simply read.”
