Dragon Ball Daima: Everything we learned from the battle hour event

Here’s all the new information we learned about Dragon Ball Daime, the franchise’s newest anime series, following the Battle Hour event.

The recent Battle Hour gaming event blessed all Dragon Ball fans with new information about their favorite anime franchise; on the gaming front, there was news about Dragon Ball Sparking Zero, and an official trailer for Dragon Ball Daima was also released.

The new series is said to be a celebration of the 40th anniversary of Dragon Ball, pulling attention to the original series rather than Dragon Ball Z, GT, and Super. And it seems the series may be returning to its roots, after a new trailer and official artwork were uploaded online.

Dragon Ball Daima trailer and artwork drop during Battle Hour

Despite the lack of online streaming for the Battle Hour event, a new trailer for Dragon Ball Daima was still uploaded to the official Toei Animation YouTube channel.

A young Goku is back doing what he does best in the new trailer for Dragon Ball Daima: going on an adventure, getting into fights, and eating a lot of food. In the latest trailer, Goku takes off to the stars and lands on an unknown planet. A hostile alien group attempts to corner Goku during a meal that he probably didn’t pay for. The hero makes short work of the attack while not wasting his food.

A big takeaway from the trailer is that Goku uses his iconic Power Pole, which has not been seen in action since the original Dragon Ball series. When you can fire planet-destroying energy beams from your hands, you wouldn’t need to rely on staff anymore, so we can speculate whatever caused the characters to de-age into children also affected their abilities, having them rely purely on their martial arts once again.

Alongside the trailer, we’ve received new official artwork of Dragon Ball Daima from series creator Akira Toriyama of new character designs of Goku and Krillin, the latter being in civilian clothes instead of the iconic orange gi. As we can see, Goku has acclimated to his new childlike form quicker than Krillin, who appears to be still concerned with the situation.

Dragon Ball Daima has yet to receive a definitive release date, with the Fall 2024 window remaining the only clue towards when the new series is heading our way. This date has been set since Daima’s initial reveal; it’s reasonable to speculate that the anime is on track to arrive within that timeframe for fans to celebrate the 40th anniversary with Dragon Ball Daima.
