Jujutsu Kaisen proves its global popularity once again as a Barcelona striker has celebrated his latest goal by paying tribute to a beloved character from the series.

Jujutsu Kaisen is taking the world by storm. After making a world record as the most in-demand animated series on the planet, the anime has now found its way into pop culture.

Over the past year, a number of celebrities have made references to the series, including Megan thee Stallion, Bruno Mars, and Usher. Now, Barcelona striker Marc Guiu has joined the group after the team’s match against Ibiza.

FC Barcelona played against ID Ibiza on June 8. Though it was a close game, the former ultimately won the match with goals from Marc Guiu, Pau Víctor, and Unai Hernández. Out of the bunch, Hernández wowed spectators and players alike with a hat-trick.

However, the one to catch the attention of anime lovers was Guiu. After scoring a goal against Ibiza, the 18-year-old footballer made a hand gesture that looked exactly like Satoru Gojo’s domain expansion hand sign.

Given the celebratory moment and the athlete’s cheeky smile, it’s obvious that the reference was intentional. With this gesture, Guiu made it obvious that he’s a fan of, or at least is familiar with, Jujutsu Kaisen. And like us all, he’s also loves Gojo

Guiu’s Jujutsu Kaisen tribute is a reminder of the many celebrities who’ve expressed their love for the anime show. In 2023, K-pop and anime fans came together to rejoice as BTS’s Jungkook made Gojo’s domain expansion hand sign in a behind-the-scenes clip from the ‘Standing Next to You’ remix music video on which he collaborated with Usher.

The global popstar also expressed his love for Gojo and Jujutsu Kaisen in a radio show. While Usher has also proven himself a fan of the series by cosplaying as Gojo. And another celebrity who often cosplays as various anime characters is the rapper Megan thee Stallion. For Jujutsu Kaisen, she dressed up as Sukuna.

All these references from celebrities are proof of Jujutsu Kaisen’s global popularity. For more on the show, check out our articles on Yuji’s cursed technique ShrineYuta Okkotsu’s Domain Expansion, and the strongest characters Sukuna defeated.
