Jujutsu Kaisen fans have been put through the wringer after the deaths of several major characters – and creator Gege Akutami “doesn’t care” how dark it’ll get.

The dark fantasy world of JJK comes from the brain of one of the most brutal authors, Gege Akutami, who doesn’t think twice before killing our favorite characters – including Satoru Gojo, Nanami, and Nobara.

The recent chapters of the manga feature the battle against Sukuna, the king of curses, but none of the good guys can defeat him yet. So, everyone is waiting for the moment when Yuji and his allies will get the upper hand on the evil curses.

Everyone knew that JJk’s story was unforgiving, but witnessing Gojo’s demise was something that no one expected. Of course, this also means that a much darker story awaits us in the upcoming chapter, which is also evident from Akutami’s 2021 interview.

Gege Akutami “doesn’t care” who dies in Jujutsu Kaisen

As shared by reputable leaker Myamura, Gege Akutami had an interview with Kendo Kobayashi in 2021 in which he said he “doesn’t care” which character dies, as long as the story continues to draw fans’ attention toward it, the deaths don’t matter.

After this statement went viral on social media, the majority of the fandom agreed that killing the fan-favorite characters doesn’t make the story interesting. However, others defended deaths across the manga.

Akutami isn’t even afraid to kill the main protagonist. Cast your mind back to the beginning of the story, when Yuji’s heart was taken out from his body by Sukuna. As fans mourned his death, the king of curses brought him back to life; for his selfish reasons, of course.

As the story progressed, we fell in love with Gojo, but Akutami’s twisted plans for the character made every fan go berserk. Gojo got sealed in the Prison Realm, and when he returned, we lost him once and for all at the hands of Sukuna during their final showdown. Nanami and Nobara have also bid us goodbye, leaving a traumatized Yuji behind. Hence, we should be ready to witness more brutal deaths throughout the series.
