A still from the Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Shibuya opening

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is only just transitioning into the Shibuya Incident arc, and the creator, Gege Akutami, has again shared their thoughts about the animation.

Jujutsu Kaisen made its grand return last week with all new episodes featuring the Shibuya Incident arc. Episodes 6 and 7 will be the prelude of the incident, while the actual tragedy will begin in Episode 8. There’s no doubt that MAPPA will again do an incredible with the animation.

Ever since Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 began, Gege Akutami has expressed their full support regarding the change in art style and everything else. When Season 2 just came out, Gege expressed their satisfaction with a thank you note to the animators.

Additionally, their comment after the flashback arc ended was even more intriguing as they appreciated the level of care and detail put into the animation. Now that the Shibuya arc has begun in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, here’s what Gege Akutami had to say about it.

Gege Akutami praises the transition to Shibuya arc in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

After the ending of the Hidden Inventory/Premature Death arc, Gege expressed their anticipation regarding the Shibuya Incident arc of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2. Gege shared: “Everything has been created with such painstaking care and detail. If they’d told me that Season 2 would be a flashback arc only, I wouldn’t have doubted for a second. I can’t believe we’re also getting Shibuya after all this.”

The message concerning the new arc came out a bit later than expected. Gege has been busy with the manga and cannot watch the episodes as soon as they air. It’s true that they have been extremely busy with the ongoing fight between Gojo and Sukuna in the manga. According to the usual schedule, Gege should have taken a break after chapter 234, but they didn’t delay since 235 was going to conclude the fight.

The manga is in its final stretch, and with the battle of the strongest finally over, the author is more busy than ever. However, after watching them, Gege has made sure to express their thoughts Jujutsu Kaisen fans. Gege absolutely loves MAPPA’s animation for Season 2, and the new arc looks even more impressive than before. The Shibuya Incident has yet to begin, so fans can expect a lot of thrilling episodes that will air till 28 December 2023.
