Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will fix its most controversial episode
CrunchyrollJujutsu Kaisen Season 2 promises to fix its most controversial episode ever in a new version – so here’s what you need to know.
Jujutsu Kaisen is again taking over major headlines in 2024, with record-breaking Crunchyroll Anime Awards wins. The series also has major things lined up for its 6th anniversary, the release of Volume 26, and the Blu-ray release of the Shibuya Incident Arc.
The anime gathered a lot of controversy last year, especially during the Shibuya Incident when several animators directly or indirectly exposed the poor working conditions in MAPPA. Things only got worse with each week. Ultimately, Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Episode 17 attracted most of the controversy when news about it being an unfinished episode started circulating around.
Not to mention that popular One Piece animator, Vincent Chansard, came as a guest animator for this specific episode to animate Sukuna vs Mahoraga. He then immediately claimed that he will never work for MAPPA again. Here’s how Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will fix its most controversial episode.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Blu-ray version will include additional scenes in Episode 17
Earlier today, the official website of Jujutsu Kaisen announced that the Blu-ray & DVD volumes 4 & 5 will have a special screening in Japan for one week from March 29. The screening will include Episodes 17, 18, 19, and 20 of the second season.
Popular JJK accounted confirmed that the Blu-ray version will revise the scene and add additional scenes.
Another user shared: “Sukuna vs Mahoraga fight will be corrected and extended in blu-ray version. We will get to witness the full version of some scenes that were cut out in the TV version and some major corrections done in the ep.”
One of the animators of JJK Season 2, Itsuki Tsuchigami, is also promoting the Blu-ray on Twitter/X: “I think episode 41 is a step above what you might imagine with “additional cuts included”, so if you’re into things, I think you should buy the video software. Some people may think they are the same.”
Tsuchigami also worked on the infamous Sukuna vs Mahoraga episode. Knowing the circumstances of the animators working day and night on the anime, Jujutsu Kaisen fans had nothing but praise for the incredible epsidoe. It currently ranks second on the IMDb episode list. Needless to say, fans are excited as ever over the recent news.
“I’m so hyped up for the Blu-ray release of S2 E41 “Thunderclap, Part 2″ to watch the epic fight between Sukuna and Mahoraga and Sukuna’s Domain Expansion: Malevolent Shrine with additional cuts and revised footage in its full glory,” shared one user.
Another user posted: “17 My favorite episode of the second, and at the same time the episode of the wasted decade, because it would have been at a greater level had it not been for the obstacles in the production of the second season. Excited about the Blu-ray release.”
