One Piece opening spoiled major betrayal 17 years ago
CrunchyrollAn earlier One Piece opening spoiled a major plot twist about a popular character’s betrayal long before it had actually happened in the manga.
One Piece is popular for its complex storyline and foreshadowing. Additionally, the story also has countless betrayals, and it seems one of the openings has long spoiled a certain character changing sides. Although anime openings often spoil major events from the manga, this time, this spoiler appeared long before it was even shown in the manga.

Then, it features all the major and minor characters before sneakingly dropping one of the biggest plot twists of the series long before it happened. Here’s everything you need to know about it. Warning: this article contains spoilers from the manga!

Kuzan is the former Admiral Aokiji and one of the strongest characters in the entire series. After the Marineford arc, he fought Akainu in Punk Hazard to become the Fleet Admiral. However, he left the Marines after losing and joined the Blackbeard Pirates.
Kuzan has always been a grey character in One Piece. While he often shows his kindness toward Robin and others, it’s also true that he’s loyal to the Marines, which is why it’s surprising that he joined the worst pirate in the New World. Blackbeard is not only powerful, but he is evil through and through.
Kuzan is now one of the Ten Titanic Captains of the Blackbeard Pirates, serving directly under Marshall D. Teach. The above visual represents Kuzan being side by side with the other Titanic Captains. However, the perplexing part is that when this opening was released, the Marineford arc wasn’t even teased.
Long after this opening, Kuzan served as an Admiral in the Summit War before he left the Marines. Although it could be a coincidence that Kuzan was placed with the other Blackbeard Pirates, but it doesn’t change the fact that a random scene from the opening turned out to one of the biggest plot twists in One Piece.
