One Punch Man Season 3 has dropped another teaser, but the reaction is split. Although the first season became an instant classic, quality dropped in the second, and fans are hoping for a return to form.

So far, One Punch Man Season 3 has given us a trailer and some character visuals. Genos, Saitama’s cyborg apprentice, is the subject of the latest, with a simple image that has him standing in front of a blue background.

Although simple, the picture is proving enough inspire some relief, since fans can now see that some of the animation has changed. In particular for Genos, it’s an update on the gradient coloring that really wasn’t enjoyed by the audience.

“The awful metal texture is gone,” says a Twitter/X user. “Genos looks badass in this!” another says.

The chorus is optimistic, but also wary. We’ve been waiting a number of years at this point, and the production company is still JC Staff. “It looks great. That metallic gradient is gone thank f**k. Hopefully they stick with this,” a commenter on Reddit states.

“It looks identical to the Season 1 design,” says another Redditor. One user points out that overwork was definitely an issue with One Punch Man Season 2, since the Director of Photography had three ongoing projects at one point.

“Hopefully the director of photography for this season changed, so that those terrible metallic gradients can go away. Although to be fair to Yoshio Ōkouchi, he had to work as DOP for two other shows in 2019, so it’s not just incompetence,” says a comment.

Hopefully we don’t have long to go before we find out properly. In the meantime, check out our guides to Demon Slayer Season 4 and Tower of God Season 2, and our upcoming anime list for what else is on the horizon.
