Apex Legends: Crypto map change teaser discovered for Season 3

Eagle-eyed fans of Apex Legends have potentially traced Crypto’s footsteps and revealed his current location, following his brief teaser appearance in Singh Labs.

Apex Legends is filled to the brim with lore from the Titanfall universe; from character backstories to in-game loot, Respawn Entertainment’s attention to detail is undeniable.

Although the game is well under the one year mark, fans have already been introduced to two season’s worth of content, and with the third season just around the corner, fans of the battle royale are eager to get stuck into the new backstory and setting that will supplement it.

Crypto is set to make an official appearance on October 1st.

We already know that season 3 will be titled ‘Meltdown’ and will largely revolve around the inclusion of Crypto, whose backstory can be linked back to the Voidwalker event reveal when his logo appeared on a device worn by Ghostwraith.

Crypto made his first official appearance in King’s Canyon in the Singh Labs (located within the Wraith portal between Wetlands and Hydro Dam), when he was caught breaching another computer inside the labs.

Now, merely days after the first sight of Crypto, u/Meow_BTW has potentially discovered the hacker’s current whereabouts and has posted to the Apex Legends subreddit with their findings.

Crypto has been heard underground, in the region of Swamps.

The Reddit user hypothesizes that Crypto is currently situated in Swamps, after hearing the same audio cues – that were initially heard when the vigilante scurried away from Singh Labs – just east of the labs’ location.

The post has gained some traction, with fellow fans of the game supporting the finding that has claimed Crypto’s footsteps to be within earshot of Swamps.

Of course, should the footsteps transpire to be true, Swamps could be due an overhaul as part of Crypto introduction into Season 3. Undoubtedly, adding a POI to this area would increase the frequency that players visit, given that it is one of the least popular locations within the game.

Regardless, with multiple theories on Crypto’s intentions currently in circulation, the addition of the character has certainly drummed up interest within the Apex Legends community. At the time of writing, the developers have neither confirmed nor denied the developments to Crypto’s whereabouts.

When is Season 3?

The third season of Apex has been confirmed for an October 1 launch date, when Crypto will finally be unleashed into Kings Canyon.

There will also be a new weapon, the Charge Weapon, plus an improved battle pass and some major changes to the Ranked Play mode.
