Apex Legends: How do different Legends abilities and weapons affect movement speeds?
One of the more critical aspects of Apex Legends is movement, and players who master the different movement mechanics will be one step closer to mastering the game.
There are a lot of nuances to how movement works in Apex Legends, and different factors affect the speed at which players are able to move around.
Example of this include the fact that sliding downhill is always faster than running, and running with a weapon holstered is always faster than with the weapon equipped.
In addition, there are certain Legends characters that have abilities that affect movement speed, and players should certainly learn to use those abilities to their advantage.
With all this in mind, YouTube ‘T_status,’ has published a video in which he does an in-depth analysis of movement speed in Apex Legends and determines what affects it and by how much.
Legends Abilities
There are three different Legends abilities that affect movement speed – the Wraith’s Tactical Ability ‘Into the Void,’ her Ultimate Ability ‘Dimensional Rift,’ and the Bloodhound’s Ultimate ‘Beast of the Hunt.’
According to the calculations shown in the video, the Wraith’s Ult is 38% faster than normal running speed, the Bloodhound’s Ult is 25% faster, and the Wraith’s Tactical is 4% faster.
As far as the Legends themselves, despite popular belief, the video proves that they all run at the same base speed of 7.4 meters per second, including the gigantic Gibraltar. The reason why Gibraltar may seem slower is because his hands have been coded to pump slower while running.
Weapons
We’ve already discussed that running with the weapon holstered is faster than running while having it equipped, and the video confirms that the speed difference is approximately 15%.
The video then shows a simultaneous running test with several weapons from different classes, and the character manages to reach the endpoint at the same exact time with each, debunking the popular theory that different weapons can affect running speeds.
Wall Climbing
Last but not least, the video proves holstering your weapon does not affect the speed at which you climb a wall. The only thing that can really affect that is the Bloodhound’s Ultimate Ability, which offers a very minimal speed increase.
