Secret loot vaults are dotted around the Apex Legends World’s Edge map, with some of the rarest items found inside. Here’s where to find the keys needed to enter the vaults in Season 4.

Those who have been playing Respawn Entertainment’s popular battle royale game for quite some time might already be familiar with the method of entering loot vaults, although, since the start of the game’s fourth season in February, there’s no doubt a lot of players have just come back to the title.

There are three of these vaults just waiting to be opened in World’s Edge and you better hope that after reading this guide you’re the first to get to one as well, as there’s usually tons of great gear inside – giving you and your teammates a better chance of being crowned the champion squad.

Secret loot vaults are hidden in caves across the Apex Legends map.

Apex Legends loot vault locations

First of all, you’re going to need to know where to find them. Two of the three are based in the East and Southeast sections of the island, as seen in the map we’ve created below, and you will notice that each of them is more or less out of sight too, buried away in caves and canyon passes.

Once you have found them, you will notice that the doors are locked, with players requiring a vault key to get inside.

How to get vault keys in Apex Legends

There’s a very specific thing that you have to look out for in order to grab yourself a vault key. Some cargo bots, as seen in the picture below, drop them after being shot down.

These robots hover over specific locations and change appearance regularly, with its surface flashing gold, purple, and blue. Whatever color these are when you shoot them down will decide on the quality of loot you will find inside, but there’s something different about the ones holding a vault key.

Here’s what Cargo Bots look like in Apex Legends. Locations marked with a blue shining light at the start of games are populated with them.

The ones carrying keys actually have a red marking on the panels, indicating that there’s a key inside. Simply fire at it, hope there’s one inside, head over to its location, pick up the key and use it to enter the nearest loot vault.

What do vault keys look like?

Those who haven’t yet been inside one of the vaults may be wondering what the keys look like. Well, they’re only small and if you crack open a cargo bot over some long grass or rocky terrain, make sure you look properly at the ground. They’re quite small, so do have a double check.

What’s inside loot vaults?

There’s a reason why Apex Legends players really want to get inside these loot vaults and that’s because there are usually tons of gold and purple weapon parts or items found inside – not to mention a whole bunch of healing materials too.

There’s a shed load of rare loot just waiting to be picked up inside these vaults.

Some of the rarest guns to find in-game can be stored inside, including the gold Prowler Burst PDW, Havoc Rifle, R-301 carbine, and more.

Now that you know what you know, there’s no reason why you can’t be the next legend to open up the secret loot vault hidden away in the cave systems, pick up some of the best things the game has to offer and become an Apex Champion. Good luck, legends.
