ImperialHal stunned by “speedhacking” Apex Legends cheater in Predator Rank
Respawn Entertainment/TSMApex Legends pro player Philip ‘ImperialHal’ Dosen was left stunned after running into a “speedhacking” cheater in Ranked.
As with any multiplayer title, Apex Legends suffers from its fair share of cheaters who use third-party software to gain an unfair advantage over the competition.
This usually comes in the form of an aimbot or program that automatically detects the position of players on the map.
However, there are other hacks that can be a little harder to spot if you’re not paying attention. These may not enhance a cheater’s accuracy, but they do give them a slight edge over their opponents, which are often harder for Respawn to detect.
Well, ImperialHal noticed one of these hackers in a Predator match who was diving down onto the map from the dropship at an unbelievable speed.
ImperialHal spots “speedhacking” cheater in Ranked
During his June 25 stream, ImperialHal was grinding Ranked on stream with his premade squad when he spotted something strange at the start of a match.
When diving down onto the Launch Pad POI on Storm Point, Hal realized that a player was traveling twice as fast as anyone else after jumping from the dropship.
The TSM pro immediately called out the cheater for “speedhacking” and was absolutely stunned at how quickly the player reached the ground.
While this hack isn’t as powerful as an aimbot, it does give the cheater access to ground loot before anyone else which can be a game-changer in a hot drop zone.
As this is a Predator-level lobby, it’s obvious this player has been abusing third-party software for a long time without being detected.
Although Respawn has made a lot of progress in the fight against hackers in the last few seasons, the battle is far from over as it’s still affecting a lot of Ranked games.
Let’s hope the devs can continue to crack down on cheaters, especially the ones that are using more subtle hacks in an attempt to go under the radar.
