Baldur’s Gate 3 players are highlighting some of the role-playing game’s most notable “morally misleading choices.”

Like with any other RPG, choices in Larian’s Baldur’s Gate adventure play an essential part in the overall experience. Choices both big and small factor into the game’s outcome and determine which characters will live or die.

On the surface, some decisions seem easier to make than others, but Larian made sure to inject the RPG with enough gray area to keep players on their toes.

One person has described these decisions as “morally misleading choices,” and fans are having a field day sharing their favorite examples.

Redditor MxCrosswords recently asked fellow BG3 faithful to recall the best examples of the game’s “morally misleading choices.” For their own choice, the user pointed to saving Baelen Bonecloak, an NPC trapped in the Underdark that players can rescue.

The Redditor said that they save people instinctively but regret extending that grace to Baelen. After all, as the campaign progresses, evidence of Baelen’s abuse towards his wife, Derryth, bubbles to the surface.

“Next time, I’m going to let him get bibberbanged. Apparently, Derryth can adopt a cat if he dies, in addition to being much happier,” the original poster concluded.

Naturally, numerous people flooded the comments to share their own experiences with BG3’s “morally misleading choices.”

One person mentioned “Helping the little girl in the cemetery,” for instance.

Elsewhere in the thread, another Baldur’s Gate 3 player stated that every decision related to Mayrina falls into this category. “Basically any of the choices made with Mayrina. That hag really just… ruined her all because of a tragedy.”

Someone who agreed with the above sentiment wrote, “‘Saving’ Mayrina is what I came here to say. The game does such a damn good job of making sure every subsequent decision is twisted into an undesired outcome.”

Baldur’s Gate 3 obviously has no shortage of narrative options that will make players rethink their choices later.
