Baldur’s Gate 3 makes television debut on Jeopardy
Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 made a surprise appearance on the popular American television game show Jeopardy on February 22.
Winner of Game of the Year, Baldur’s Gate has gained massive attention in mainstream media. Since releasing in August of 2023, the title has reached multiple platforms such as PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
For those potentially outside of the gaming world, Baldur’s Gate has also garnered attention in The New York Times and Washington Post. This is thanks to the over 100,000 players that log into the game daily across all platforms.
The premise behind Baldur’s Gate comes from the popular tabletop experience Dungeons and Dragons. In which people can completely customize their character, interact with the world around them, and force a unique destiny for themselves.
With this much attraction to one game, it seems that Baldur’s Gate has made it big by becoming a question on the latest episode of Jeopardy.
Jeopardy contestant correctly answers Baldur’s Gate question
An episode that aired on February 21 has a contestant pick a $400 question underneath the category “Fun and Games.” The statement is revealed to be the following:
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a 2023 video game juggernaut based on the 5 rules for this tabletop role-playing game.
The contestant then answers with “What is Dungeons and Dragons?”
Fans were pleasantly surprised to find out that Baldur’s Gate had been on the game show. Not only that, but they praised the contestant in the video for answering the question quickly. A developer of Baldur’s Gate saw the question was featured and issued their own response on social media.
“Apparently BG3 was on Jeopardy, so apologies if you lost,” said the director of publishing for Larian Studios Very AFK.
As Baldur’s Gate continues to grow in popularity, there may be a chance that the mainstream media world will see more people talking about it.
