Some members of the Baldur’s Gate 3 community are poking fun at the “lies” they’ve found in various character names.

Each of the characters that players meet in Baldur’s Gate 3 has a richly crafted narrative to share, a backstory, and lore that help flesh them out further.

This includes the titles of some of these characters, which give hints as to their profession or background that people may not have known about beforehand.

However, some Baldur’s Gate 3 fans have found these titles and names to be misleading, and are having fun with it.

Baldur’s Gate 3 players expose the “lies” of character names

In a post to the Baldur’s Gate 3 subreddit, a player made a post titled: “I’m sick and tired of the lies in this game.”

But instead of anything too serious, the post is about various names that aren’t actually all that true in the game:

“Blood of Lathander – is not blood, Iron Throne – not a throne, Nightsong – not a song, Blade of Avernus – not a blade, The Emperor – not an emperor.”

The responses have gone along with this schtick as well, with more users pointing out other names that fit this bill.

“Shadowheart – has a heart full of silliness and optimism.”

Some have even gone even more specific and small in what they’re analyzing: “A’star’ion. It’s GALE who explodes when he dies. Do better, Bryan.”

One Baldur’s Gate 3 player even used the joke as a way to take a jab at another well-known gaming fiasco from a few years ago:

“It feels like I’m playing Cyberpunk 2077 with all the lying involved in it lol.”

It’s a fun joke that the community is having fun with, posing the question: can the game do any wrong? It’s not looking like it for the fans.
