Baldur’s Gate 3 players charmed by cats reacting to in-game animals
Larian StudiosAfter a Baldur’s Gate 3 player shared an image of their cat reacting to an in-game feline, others are sharing how their own pets react to the game.
Baldur’s Gate 3‘s world is packed with deep, interesting characters to interact with, and that doesn’t stop with the humaniods.
The spell Speak with Animals (or a potion that grants its effects) is all but essential, as many of the Sword Coast’s animals have plenty to say. This ranges from wholesome interactions with Scratch to fittingly smug cats to darker revelations about the world, such as what happened to the Owlbear cub’s older brother.
It’s not just human players who love interacting with these creatures, though, as some have shared pictures and stories of their real-life pets getting really excited over certain characters.
Cats love Baldur’s Gate 3’s animals and villains
As Reddit user Dwanye_Dirac_Johnson shared, their cat was “half asleep on my lap” until the cat Malta appeared. Seeing her clearly got the real feline’s attention as an image of the cat getting slow to the monitor to stare at Malta shows.
Players are understandably delighted by the picture.
“Larian really put love interests for EVERYONE in this game,” said one commenter.
Others discussed their own cats’ reactions to Baldur’s Gate 3 and its animals. “My cat gets excited seeing Scratch EVERY SINGLE TIME!” shared a user, along with a picture of their pet trying to get as close as possible to the screen.
It’s not just the game’s animals that are getting cats excited. As another player shared, “My cat for whatever reason is obsessed with Orin. Whenever she’s on the TV she’ll go up and start slapping the screen with her paws lol.”
That story prompted the original poster to note, “It makes sense, all cats crave violence,” and another to claim, “All cats are bhaal spawn.” Considering how brutal of a villain Orin is, it’s no surprise she would appeal to that part of cat life.
