Baldur’s Gate 3 players want this key dialogue option added to the game
Larian StudiosBaldur’s Gate 3 players are slamming one character so intensely that they’re now calling for a specific dialogue option to be added to the game just to call them a “dumbass.”
While it may be a strength in some instances and a weakness in others, the characters of Baldur’s Gate 3 are certainly unique. Many players have a love/hate relationship with the companions and NPCs that span the expansive story, and their interactions arguably create some of the most memorable elements of the game.
One interaction in general is having such an impact that it’s now inspiring players to call for a brand new dialogue option to help them put the “dumbass” NPC in their place – and fans just can’t get enough of the idea.
Baldur’s Gate 3 player have had enough of one “dumbass” character
Sharing their idea on Reddit, one Baldur’s Gate 3 player highlighted how “we need a patch to call [SPOILER] a dumbass.” The spoiler in question is Orpheus, the Githyanki Prince that’s housed inside the Emperor’s prison.
If you choose to let him go, it can be pretty surprising to see his reaction, with the player explaining: “When I freed Orpheus, I expected him to be distrustful of the party, but not a complete and total dumbass to the party. He’s mad we abused his powers, so we explain we had no choice, The Emperor was literally in charge of that the whole time, we freed him at the first opportunity.”
They went on to add the hilarious comment that inspired them to call for a new dialogue option: “Then he says something out of left field, such a dipsh***edly stupid response that I can’t fathom even him thinking it’s right: “You could’ve surrendered yourself to my honour guard. They would have given you a noble end.” Asshole, if we did that, YOU wouldn’t be free right now!”
As many players know, you can’t free Orpheus without the Orphic Hammer, so if the player had surrendered, they would be dead, and Orpheus would still be trapped, making it a pretty pointless statement.
Shortly after posting, fans rallied to the comments to share their frustration with Orpheus, as well as the limited responses you can reply with.
“This also bugged me yeah.” commented one user, going on to say that “the best you can do is say “Oh well now’s not the time to fight” which can feel a little passive for some players.
Others commented that “this bothered me too” while highlighting the stupid things Orpheus seems to frequently say.
While many players agreed, one user revealed the desire to change a few more dialogue options in the next patch: “If they patch this can we also call the emperor a dumbarse for immediately joining the elder brain?”
It’s clear some NPCs make some questionable choices in Baldur’s Gate 3, and for most fans, nothing would be more satisfying than to call them out for it.
