Next Battlefield game reportedly features free-to-play Battle Royale

Battlefield is one of the most beloved FPS franchises and arguably the main rival to Activision’s Call of Duty. The franchise has made a name for itself with its realistic gameplay, focus on warfare, and of course, destruction.
However, the series has been unable to reach its previous heights, with the 2021 release Battlefield 2042 slammed by fans at launch for lack of content, glitches galore, and more.
Despite this, anticipation for the next entry is well and truly present, ramping up even more with recent rumors that the next entry will include a free Battle Royale mode.
Battle Royale has become a popular game mode thanks to the likes of Fortnite and others. As such, many other major FPS franchises such as Halo and more have all been working towards developing a unique Battle Royale experience for fans to dive into.
As first reported by Insider Gaming, the next Battlefield title is set to introduce Battle Royale to the franchise, this game mode will reportedly be free-to-play for fans as well.
The reported free-to-play Battle Royale mode will follow in the footsteps of Call of Duty: Warzone and will launch alongside the base game. In regards to the setting of the game, Insider also reported that the next Battlefield title will be set in the modern day, potentially around 2025-2030.
Despite the rumors that they will be introducing a new Battle Royal mode for Battlefield, Insider Gaming also noted that the franchise is aiming to go “back to its roots” with this new approach and is looking to overhaul the game in a big way.
