Ortiz was awarded a controversial points victory

Terence Crawford mocked Teofimo Lopez on social media after his controversial points victory over Jamaine Ortiz in Las Vegas.

All three judges scored the fight in Lopez’s favour (115-113, 115-113, 117-111) but the decision was booed by those in attendance at the Michelob Ultra Arena.

Crawford had posted on X prior to the judge’s scorecards being revealed that he believed Lopez had lost and that it was time for him to go ‘back to the drawing board’.

Lopez’s post-fight reaction

However, despite seemingly being outboxed, a visibly emotional Lopez was awarded the decision.

Lopez’s tears provoked mockery from 36-year-old Crawford, who wrote: “He got a gift and he know it that’s why he crying.”

The defeated Ortiz made it clear he did not agree with the judges’ scorecards, saying: “I stuck to the game plan, I listened to my corner, my team. I thought I was winning.

“I think I won the fight. What can I say? He couldn’t hit me, I was making him miss all night. 117-111 is just ridiculous.”

Lopez, meanwhile, has his eyes firmly fixed on a showdown with Crawford, adding: “I’ll fight Crawford at a catchweight. I’m here, I’m ready. I’m hungry, I’m younger, I’m prettier.”
