The MMA Hour/TwitterWBC world heavyweight champion Tyson Fury’s eye injury, that has seen his undisputed world title fight with WBA, IBF and WBO champion Oleksandr Usyk rearranged, left his wife, Paris, ‘shaking’.
Fury, 35, was forced to pull out of the mega fight that was originally slated for Saturday, February 17, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, after suffering a cut above his eye in sparring on Friday.
Organiser Turki Alalshikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s general entertainment authority, confirmed that the entire February 17 show has been postponed, ending speculation Usyk could fight a different opponent.
The fight will now take place on Saturday, May 18, at the same venue, while it was also confirmed Dmitry Bivol and Artur Beterbiev have agreed to fight in an undisputed light-heavyweight world title fight in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, June 1.
Tyson Fury’s injury left wife, Paris, ‘shaking’
It was confirmed on Friday that the original fight date was postponed after Fury suffered a nasty cut above his eye.
Explaining how he suffered the injury, Fury said in a press conference: “I arranged to spar 12 rounds with four different guys.
“In round five I got an elbow in the eye, a split eye, and obviously I’ve been to the hospital and had 11 stitches.”
When his wife Paris saw the severity of his injury, she claims it left her ‘full body shaking’.
“My full body was shaking with nerves when he showed me the cut, because I wasn’t there with him,” Paris said on her Instagram Story.
“He sounded so p****d off and disappointed but this is boxing and these things can happen.”
