Black Ops 4 April 9 update patch notes – Infected Multiplayer, League Play updates, and more

Alan Bernal

The Game Settings update for Black Ops 4 landed on April 9 and is giving players access to a trove of new content featuring a new Multiplayer mode, Skill Divisions, a new Blackout map and much needed fixes to the game.

Treyarch has loaded their latest patch to revitalize every mode in the game including the Blackout battle royale, Multiplayer and Zombies, giving players tons to do throughout the week.

As usual, Playstation 4 will get the bulk of new content while Xbox One and PC players will get to try out previous releases like Alcatraz that will finally make its way to the entire CoD community.

Infected Multiplayer

The popular variant to Multiplayer is making its way back to Call of Duty playlists on Playstation 4. Long time fans of the franchise will recognize the mode that splits teams into teams of Infected and Survivors.

Survivors win by having at least one player alive when time runs out while the Infected will do their best to stop that from happening.

The mode will have preset classes for the Survivors to choose from, including Scrapper, Impaler, Lead Spitter, Perforator, Meat Bagger, and Headhunter.

To put up with the various classes, the Infected will have an infinite amount of spawns in a match. The game’s timer will reset every time a Survivor becomes an Infected either by elimination or suicide.

League Play

The latest patch is coming with a few notable changes to the competitive Black Ops 4 platform with the introduction of Skill Divisions and a major change to how Specialist abilities work.

Additionally, Players will now be split into Competitor, Advanced, Expert, Elite and Master tiers which will divvy up players’ skill rating “based on the overall competitive player population.”

The divisions are landing immediately on all consoles so that every CoD player can see how they stack up against each other.

Alcatraz available on all platforms

The newest map for Blackout lands on PC and Xbox One.

The newest map for the battle royale is now out for all consoles, but the developers have also made a few tweaks that should improve the overall experience.

The map will now let players deploy using portals to get into the close-quarter action on the island way sooner. Meanwhile, different points of interests around Alcatraz have been given new names, including the Warden’s House, Docks, New Industries, and Cellhouse.

A couple of Zombie elements are making their way into Alcatraz. Primarily with a new “Zombie-themed” armament in the Mystery Box as well as Wall Buy weapons that disappear after picking them up.

Survivors will have to outlast the onslaught until the timer runs out, while the Infected claim victory by spreading their disease to every Survivor in the map. This time around, Infected has a zombie-themed twist – every member of the Infected team is entirely zombified, with a full zombie character model and sound effects to match! Check out Infected today on PS4 and let us know what you think.

Skill Divisions Now Live in League Play

Starting today on all platforms, the World League Hub’s new Skill Divisions now reflect each player’s skill level within the World League Rank system based on their standing in the overall competitive population, in addition to League Play’s existing progressive rank system. Players will be placed into specific Skill Divisions based on their current skill rating, starting with 50% of the population in Competitor Division and culminating with the top 2% in Master Division. Time to climb!
