Black Ops 6 players say new slide mechanic could dominate multiplayer

A Black Ops 6 leak revealed footage of a new slide, and players expect it to be one of the most used mechanics in multiplayer.

Activision has advertised Omnimovement as a “genre-defining movement system.” For the first time in series history, players can sprint or slide in any direction and fire while diving.

Call of Duty League player Kenny had the chance to play BO6 early and claimed that omnimovement will be one of the best additions in recent history. In saying that the OpTic Texas pro also fears that the ability to dive and shoot simultaneously at the same time is overpowered.

ModernWarzone posted a clip proving that it’s possible to slide in the direction you jumped in when landing from a jump. Being able to shoot from the direction you jumped from while also getting a dive boost generated buzz, just like Kenny predicted.

“This will be the fastest-paced CoD in years,” one user argued. “I’m looking forward to it.”

Seasoned veterans pointed out that you could also pull off this maneuver in Black Ops 3. However, with the added benefit of 360 range of motion from omnimovement, players will have more control over their bodies as they escape a gunfight or round a corner.

In Warzone and MW3, slide-cancelling is often regarded as the best mobility tool, allowing you to retain maximum movement speed after sliding. Players use it to out-maneuver enemies in gunfights and traverse distances quicker.

The increased slide speed caused by jumping in Black Ops 6 will change how players move, and could potentially make slide cancelling less important.

“This is going to be so overpowered,” a second player claimed.

We won’t know for sure how powerful omnimovement is for sure until the beta starts on Aug. 30. But based on everything shown so far in leaks, the slide boost provided from jumping is sure to break a fair share of controllers.
