A Call of Duty streamer was having some fun pretending to be a hacker in Modern Warfare 3, causing both his teammates and enemies to grow suspicious — but he couldn’t believe it when he actually got shadowbanned after.

The hacking problem in Call of Duty is one that never seems to die off. Even after numerous ban waves and improvements made to the Ricochet anti-cheat system, the problem never dies down and, in 2024, many players have argued it’s getting even worse again.

With that said, there are some creators who love to “bait” their viewers by pretending to be hacking, with Symfuhny the prime example of someone who claims to be doing this, garnering a huge number of hacking accusations in the process.

This is exactly what streamer Bams claimed he was doing while playing some public match Modern Warfare 3, and his teammates were quick to take the bait and accuse him of cheating.

Bams gets MW3 ban for “cheating”

While playing on Shoot House, Bams started randomly snapping into different directions and ‘tracking’ opponents through walls, and his teammates quickly called him a cheater, even though he was simply snapping into the sky or locations where enemies just won’t be.

While he and his teammates found it all funny during the game, they turned on him after securing the win, telling everybody in the lobby to report Bams, who pleaded with them not to.

After the fact, he was disconnected from the Call of Duty servers and, upon checking, discovered that he had had his matchmaking limited — essentially meaning he was shadowbanned in-game.

Whether Bams ends up getting a proper ban from the game remains to be seen, but as long as he stops “pretending to cheat,” he might just get away with this one and be able to carry on playing as normal.
