Activision and Infinity Ward have unveiled the first official look at Season One of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which is set to be jam-packed with a lot of new content.

Season One of Modern Warfare will be releasing on December 3 for all three major platforms – PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, meaning that PS4 won’t have an exclusivity period over the others.

Furthermore, all of the content included in Season One will be free for everyone to enjoy, since Activision have ditched the Season Pass model and purchasable DLC content.

Speaking of content, there will be a tremendous amount of new stuff added, including seven-plus maps, three of which are remakes, three modes, two weapons, five-plus Spec-Ops experiences, and more.

And although it wasn’t revealed as part of this announcement, the Season One Battle Pass is also expected to launch on December 3. Here is a full breakdown of what to expect once this update goes live:

Modern Warfare Season 1 – new maps

As mentioned above, there will be at least seven new maps added in Modern Warfare during Season 1 – three multiplayer, a massive one for Ground War, and at least three for the 2v2 Gunfight mode.

All three multiplayer maps are remade versions of classic ones from the original Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare game – Crash, Vacant, Shipment. The new Ground War map will be called Post.

As for Gunfight, two maps were confirmed – Cargo and Atrium – but the announcement hints at there being more, so players will have to stay tuned to find out more about that.

Infinity WardThe iconic Shipment map from the original Modern Warfare game will be added as part of Season One.

Modern Warfare Season 1 – new modes

Three new modes will make their debut in Season 1 – Reinforce, Gunfight OSP, Infected, all three of which have been seen in Call of Duty before at some point.

Reinforce, which was featured in both Ghosts and Infinite Warfare, is a combination of Domination, Search & Destroy, and Search & Rescue, as it involves both capturing flags and limits on respawns.

Infected is a classic mode that’s been in a lot of past CoD titles. The way it works is one player is randomly chosen to start infecting everyone else, and matches end when either all of the players have been infected or the time runs out, and there are still some survivors.

Of the three, Gunfight OSP is the newest one, as it’s a variation of the existing version of Gunfight that’s currently in the game. In OSP, players start each round with their fists rather than a pre-determined loadout and must find and pick up weapons to engage the enemy team.

Modern Warfare Season 1 – Battle Pass

Although this announcement was full of news, there was a glaring omission when it came to revealing the Battle Pass, despite Activision having already confirmed that one will be coming for this new season.

However, a day after this Season 1 reveal, dataminers were able to access and leak the entire Battle Pass, including the rewards for all of the 104 Tiers.
