Modern Warfare set to have built-in ‘tournament mode’ for Gunfight
Infinity WardCall of Duty fans won’t have to do any extra legwork when it comes to setting up online brackets for Gunfight.
After months of waiting, fans finally got to see some Modern Warfare gameplay on July 11, with a number of top content creators showcasing the game’s new Gunfight 2v2 mode.
Fans who tuned into the world premiere of gameplay got to witness the interesting new mode that gives players random classes in a compact space as they fight it out for dominance. What could very well prove to be a popular online mode has already been given a set of integration features, according to one report that has already gotten hands-on with the game.
According to CharlieIntel, who got an inside look during a recent studio visit, the 2v2 mode is able to create its own bracket after a certain number of players or team join the lobby. In their time with the game, CharlieIntel found that it was only running a single-elimination bracket.
Additionally, the report notes that Infinity Ward is seemingly ‘excited’ about the plans they have for the mode – especially with rewards being touted as a possibility. Unfortunately, they did not reveal what these rewards could be.
Something insanely cool about Gunfight that we saw at Infinity Ward:
They have built a full in-game tournament based bracket system that allows for tournaments for the Gunfight mode. The game does all the work for the brackets. https://t.co/WireRJY37G pic.twitter.com/Id3pkuHNu5

While CharlieIntel stated they only saw a single-elimination bracket, it is possible that there could be options for how the game sets up a tournament.
However, we will likely only know more details about how it works when Infinity Ward announces a whole host of multiplayer details for their new release.
That reveal is slated for Thursday, August 1 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET/6 PM BST and even though the developers have not stated what they will be showing off, it’s not hard to guess.
Players will more than likely get to see the confirmed weapons, game types, maps, and possible new in-game mechanics.
