MTZ 556 gets big buff in Feb 21 Warzone & MW3 update
ActivisionThe MTZ 556 assault rifle has received a notable buff in Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone in the February 21 update, making it a much more viable option at both long and medium ranges in multiplayer and battle royale.
While the February 21 update didn’t make too many changes to the game, there were some fairly significant tweaks that could help change the meta, as well as bug fixes to make the game smoother and a more enjoyable experience.
The most notable change though was with the MTZ 556 assault rifle, which hasn’t been too popular in the meta, especially in Warzone, and the devs evidently felt needed some love.
Here’s what they changed in both MW3 and Warzone.

The Modern Warfare 3 patch notes detailed the buff as follows:
- Decreased initial gun kick while firing.
- Decreased recoil while firing.
- Increased near-medium damage range from 34.3m to 36.8m (+7%).
- Increased medium damage range from 41.9m to 41.9m (+12%).
