MW3 players demand ways to counter “OP” Covert Sneakers
ActivisionMW3 players are at the end of their patience without having an adequate counter to the Covert Sneakers.
The gear system in MW3 is a change-up on the series’ classic Perk system, where each player gets to choose a piece of gear to assign to three slots.
Each piece of gear comes with a different Perk, with many of them the same ones that have been present in the game for years.
However, there is one piece that the MW3 community has taken issue with as it has no counter to balance it.
MW3 players want a counter to Covert Sneakers
A post was made on the MW3 subreddit that wanted to discuss this situation, saying, “All the perk categories are pretty well-balanced, except for the boots category. Dead silence is way too much of a crutch and lacks any real competition…”
Dead Silence is a Perk that comes with the Covert Sneakers, and allows players’ footsteps to be silent so others can’t hear them coming up.
The MW3 community clearly is in agreement as the comments, with most of the users finding issue with the boots having a lack of a counter:
“The problem is that every perk should have a counter perk, the bone conduction headset should have more power and counter the covert sneakers.”
Others aren’t upset with having the boots in the game, but they do wish they had other options to equip for the Boots section of loadouts: “… you are correct in that there definitely needs to be other options that don’t suck…”
Some MW3 fans have pointed out that a Perk that is in the game could work as a counter if they went back to its original use: “They need to make high alert work like it used to before so it can counter covert sneakers.”
There is also a response of anger from some players who find the game’s fanbase to go between wanting Dead Silence to demanding it be removed over and over again.
“Do you guys want dead silence as a perk or not? Because I remember everyone complaining that it wasn’t in the last 2 MW games.”
There has been no mention by the MW3 devs for a counter to be added to the game, but it is clear that the community will continue to have a lot to say about it.
