MW3 players divided over “obnoxious” death effect animations
ActivisionMW3’s cosmetics push sees a new wave of death effects implemented. However, some of them have left the community annoyed, with fans lobbying for changes to how they work.
Call of Duty‘s in-game shop has changed over the years, getting much more zanier with crossover skins with well-known brands and celebrities.
This evolution ties into the weapon design as well as purchased weapon bundles come with tracer rounds and death effects to flex on your enemies, such as causing dismemberment in a blaze of colors.
As recent bundles have introduced wackier death effects, player sentiment is turning towards displeasure, with many hoping changes are coming to tone down these effects.
MW3 players split on death effect animations
In a post shared to the MW3 subreddit, one player shared frustration with the Sketched Out bundle’s death effect animation. When defeating an enemy, a giant comic book text blurb appears, matching the essence of the comic-themed operator.
This bundle’s been a topic of ire for the player base since it was released, and with its finisher, it seems players are frustrated for a myriad of reasons.
“I’ll take any skin over this death effect, you can hear it across the map ffs. All death effects get annoying but this is by far the worst,” one player ripped into the skin.
Others ripped into the finisher’s visual appearance and how it blocks the screen when killing an opponent. Of course, this finisher wasn’t the only one, as plenty of players stated finishers in general bother them.
A few players lobbied for a feature to turn off finishers, or at least disable them for themselves. However, many replied they don’t see a feature like that happening any time soon. Not to mention, a few of the replies mentioned how they enjoy this death effect’s unique design.
Time will continue to see newer death effects added to MW3 and future entries. Their implementation will most likely continue to split the player base up, so hopefully the developers can come to a middle ground to please both sides.
