MW3 players ready to move from The Boys crossovers
ActivisionThe Boys has been a big-name collab in CoD since last year’s MW2, yet players have grown tired of the extended stay the series has had in MW3.
Last year’s Modern Warfare II saw numerous high-profile collabs, from rappers like Nicki Minaj and 21 Savage to movies like Dune. Yet, it’s been The Boys that’s surprisingly found itself in CoD the most, with two waves of collaborations dedicated to the show.
MW2 saw the inception of the collab with Starlight, Homelander, and Black Noir joining the titular FPS. On the other hand, MW3 saw A-Train and Firecracker join, albeit via a lengthy crossover.
As much of a treat as it’s been for fans, the casual player base is ready to move on from The Boys and look forward to the future.
MW3 players “tired” of The Boys crossovers
The Boys collab launched during Season 1 Reloaded, marking a four-week dedicated event with challenges attached and rewards to earn. Reception to the event has been lackluster. Fans have ripped the camos dished out, but to be fair, the animated camos have been everyone’s favorite reward.
As mentioned, the event has lasted four weeks, and to the player base, that’s a long time. One MW3 player reflected on the collab: “Just wondering who else is a little tired of “The Boys” operators.”
The original poster’s comments opened the barn doors for others to rip into the event.
“I think they’ve run The Boys into the ground now. They’re probably done. The Walking Dead is next and who knows what’s after that. The event was lame, the event camos were lame, and the skins are cool if you watch the boys and like the characters. I’m with you though I’m over it,” one player brutally replied.
Others reflected on crucial missteps from the crossover.
“Not until we get Butcher like WE SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN FROM THE START,” one player exclaimed.
Another added elaborated on the irony of not receiving Butcher or MM in-game, both characters having actual military experience versus the super-powered villains/heroes.
Season 2 starts February 7, and with it comes the next wave of collaborations — The Walking Dead.
