After weeks of complaints from Warzone players about audio issues in the Call of Duty battle royale, the devs have finally addressed the problem with several audio fixes and changes in the latest update.

Audio has long been an issue in Warzone, dating back to when it was first released in March 2020 right up until now with the Modern Warfare 3 integration.

While this usually comes in different forms, there have been a mass of serious complaints since said integration, in particular, with footstep audio and the lack of warning when an enemy player is dropping in on you.

This was addressed in the Season 1 Reloaded patch notes on January 17, with the devs making a number of comments on audio in the game.

They said: “Our audio team has been diligently working on making adjustments to the audio experience in Warzone. In addition to the changes outlined below, we are actively exploring further improvements, with some planned for parachutes in an upcoming season.”

Here are the changes that were made in the update:

  • Audio Occlusion
    • Improvements have been made to audio occlusion on Urzikstan.
  • Plane Audio
    • Adjustments have been made to the audio on the Infil/Exfil airplane.
  • Music Channels
    • Adjusted cinematic music so that it is no longer entirely on gameplay channels, rather than cine.
  • Allied Sounds
    • Reduced the volume of friendly Slides, Jumps and Lands to better distinguish between friendly and enemy behavior.

While much of these changes and fixes were celebrated, as the game moves towards having much better audio, there is concern that the parachute audio has failed to been addressed in this update, especially as it won’t be available until an “upcoming season.”

At earliest, that could mean parachute audio fixes in Season 2, which is expected to start on February 7.
