Sword Art Online cosplayer readies for battle as best ever Asuna Yuuki

Sword Art Online made its anime debut in 2012, and has continued to be one of the most popular properties in the genre. Its story about players being trapped in a virtual reality MMORPG has captivated many.
Prolific cosplayer ‘mk_ays‘ blew fans’ minds when she shared her true-to-life take on Asuna Yuuki. Her insanely detailed costume is one of the best takes you will ever see of the character.
Cosplayer brings SAO’s Asuna to life
While the show’s first season focuses on protagonist Kirito, he quickly makes alliances with other characters after being trapped in the digital world. He soon partners and falls in love with Asuna Yuuki, who is one of the most powerful players in the game.
Cosplayer ‘mk_ays’ posted photos of her SAO costume on social media, and stunned viewers with her faithful re-creation of what could have easily been mistaken for scene from out of the anime itself.
The artist teamed up with ‘miccostumes‘ who created her intricately detailed outfit, which includes Asuna’s red cross white stockings, and her metal chest piece. Posing in the heroine’s Knights of the Blood Oath uniform, she transforms into the warrior.

Ays shared another photo of her cosplay, this time a close-up shot that highlights the details that went into pulling off the look. From her chestnut brown braided hair, to her hazel eyes, she looks just like the character.

In another picture that went viral, the cosplayer melts hearts by striking Asuna’s signature pose from the series as she glances towards Kirito lovingly. At the time of writing, the Instagram post has over 28k likes.

SAO fans couldn’t stop gushing over her faithful portrayal, such as ‘maulana_rizky_r’ who exclaimed, “Is this asuna in real life? It’s too perfect.” Another user ‘cyberneti0’ said, “Ohhh my god, you look so cute as Asuna.”
Sword Art Online originally made its debut as a light novel written by Reki Kawahara in 2009, and is still going today. Although its animated adaptation by A-1 Pictures made it a household name in the medium.
