Destiny 2 Glaive is still full of glitches and players are getting fed up

Glaives in Destiny 2 still suffer from various glitches, according to users frustrated by the melee weapon’s lingering issues.

A relatively new class of weapon, Glaives were added during The Witch Queen expansion that launched in February 2022. Many players welcomed the weapon’s arrival, since Destiny 2 had only offered one melee option up until that point.

Throughout the two-plus years since then, Glaive users have faced an uphill battle. In October 2023, for instance, players called for buffs as they felt Bungie had long abandoned the weapon class.

And while the game’s 8.0.5.2 patch recently fixed a bug that had reduced the melee damage of Glaives, the community believes the melee weapon still needs lots of work.

A Destiny 2 fan on Reddit pointed out that Glaives continue to suffer from bugs new and old, the oldest dating back to The Witch Queen days.

The 2022 glitch has long prevented Glaive players from receiving Melee Ability energy from sources like Graviton Forfeit perk. Melee damage in the Crucible remains a problem as well, the player said while noting Glaive attacks do less damage than intended.

While Destiny 2’s August 6 update was supposed to buff melee damage in PvE by 20%, even Bungie acknowledged the change hadn’t been applied. (It’s currenty unclear how exactly this particular issue was addressed in the August 20 patch.)

In addition, another recent update removed the sound effect that plays when enemies take damage from Glaive attacks.

Not all of these bugs demand Bungie’s immediate attention, but a few have circulated long enough for Glaive users to feel as though Destiny 2 has left them in the dust.

“Yeah, sucks that my pugilist + Wellspring glaive is useless,” lamented one player in the comments.

Another person replied, “Glaives are like [Marvel’s] Gambit. Bungie got excited about them, and then entirely abandoned their support.”

For now, players can only hope more Glaive-related improvements will arrive sooner rather than later.
